Lola.com's Marketing Director Talks Branding Newsrooms at Content Marketing Conference

Hear from Mike Baker on what marketers can learn from journalists (and what journalists can learn from marketers)  – April 16-19, 2019 – Boston

BOSTON – April 12, 2019Mike Baker, Marketing Director at Lola.com, the Agile Travel Management™ company that provides a super simple way to manage, book, and report on business travel, is presenting, “Building the Brand Newsroom from Scratch,” at the 5th Annual Content Marketing Conference, taking place on Tuesday, April 16 – Friday, April 19, 2019 in Boston. This year is covering what’s new, what’s next, and what’s essential for content marketing success.

WHAT: Lola.com’s Mike Baker Presents, “Building the Brand Newsroom from Scratch,” at Content Marketing Conference

WHEN: Wednesday, April 17, 2019, 1:00 p.m. – 1:50 p.m. EDT

WHERE: The Westin Waterfront Boston, 425 Summer Street, Boston, MA

For the first time ever, brands are competing with journalists for scoops, storytelling, and eyeballs. Developing a brand newsroom can help you connect with customers, expand your reach, solidify thought leadership, and keep your finger on the pulse of information. The good news is you don’t need to secure seven-figure budgets and build out a big staff. Baker is joined by Margaret Magnarelli, Executive Director for Audience Acquisition and Growth Marketing at Morgan Stanley, to offer tips and advice on how to get started with “stories” flowing and budgets for funding.

Attendees learn how to start with the “what – your audience, message, voice, style, and distribution; find the “who” – blend full-time staff and/or freelance talent; and master the “how” – putting it all into practice to deliver on goals. The session is followed by questions from attendees on challenges transforming their business into a publishing machine that attracts leads and customers in droves.

Prior to Lola.com, Baker built content marketing teams at Crimson Hexagon and InsightSquared. From 2015 – 2017, he served as co-executive director of Boston Content, which has grown to over 2,200 members since it began in 2012 to support careers, advance content work, and grow networks. While there, he launched new programming, a new blog and a job board, but maybe most importantly, he helped to navigate and connect the bustling Boston content marketing scene.

Baker is proficient in email marketing, blogging, content strategy, SEO, blog optimization, and crossword puzzles. Before entering the tech marketing world, he was a journalist at newspapers in Ohio, Florida, and New York. Working at software startups, a marketing agency, and several daily newspapers has allowed him to combine digital marketing fundamentals with his love of well-researched writing and storytelling.
