The goal of the panel sessions is to facilitate product feedback on new API and micro-services technology and to expedite piloting and licensing deals between larger travel companies and startups.
Pappas is on the panel, “How TMCs and Corporates are Innovating. How Startups Can Successfully Work with Corporates.” She is joined by Miriam Moscovici, Director, Emerging Technologies at BCD Travel; Gabriel Ayache, Director of Product Strategy at American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), Wendy Meier, Assistant Director, Global Travel Innovations at EY; and Utpal Kaul, Global Head New Product Incubation at Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT). The session is moderated by Matt Zito, Managing Partner at TSI.
As SVP of Business Development at Lola.com, Pappas advises the executive and senior leadership teams in setting the company’s strategic direction with a particular focus on driving growth through partnerships and distribution. She draws on more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in the travel industry, from startups to publicly traded companies, including her role as Global Director and Head of Travel of Bing, a Microsoft company, where she led all commercial aspects, evangelism, and strategy for Bing Travel. She has led and scaled global teams in sales and development, and marketing and customer acquisition.
Prior to Lola.com, Pappas was the COO of DuVine Cycling + Adventure, responsible for the overall day-to-day management and growth of the company. She was an executive team member of the startup teams Farecast acquired by Microsoft and SmarterTravel which was acquired by TripAdvisor. She also led travel at the New York Times Digital (NYTd) after selling her company FareChase, the first travel metasearch company to Yahoo! Pappas was coined the first “Internet Travel Analyst” in 1999, and from that point on, has been deeply immersed in the travel industry. Her focus has been on the intersection of travel disruption, technology, search, and customer experience. She invests and advises early stage Internet companies in commerce and travel and sits on several travel boards.
This event cultivates one-on-one meetings between the larger travel companies and startups where work can be done toward building long-term relationships, providing feedback, and acquiring pilots and licensing deals.
