WHAT: Mike Volpe and Emma Brudner Presenting, “How to Run People Operations Like a CEO,” at Transform 2019
WHEN: Thursday, June 20, 2019, 9:45 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. EDT

Drawing on diverse experience, Volpe and Brudner discuss how the best People Ops executives incorporate elements of marketing, customer success, product management, and sales into their roles.
The two encourage HR to talk about company culture as if it were a product of your company. By collaborating with teams at every point in the product and sales process, HR teams can glean insight on how to adapt these processes for attracting and retaining talent - similar to attracting and retaining a loyal customer base. The presentation is also being live streamed.
Volpe is asked to speak at numerous conferences on people operations, leadership, hiring, and culture as well as sales, marketing, and growth, and is a strong advocate for building great teams with a wide range of talent. Prior to landing at Lola.com last year, he was CMO at Cybereason, a cybersecurity SaaS company, where he helped increase the sales pipeline by 650% in a single year and grow revenue by five times during his tenure. He was also part of the founding team at HubSpot, where he spent eight years growing the company from five people to over 1,000 employees, $175m in revenue, and a successful IPO. Volpe is well-known and active in the Boston SaaS and startup communities as a member of the board of directors of Validity and Privy, and as an angel investor in more than 30 startups.
Brudner spent nearly five years at HubSpot, most recently as Director of Marketing, Blog and Community. She was also an associate site and news editor at TechTarget and a contributing editor at Not For Tourists, Inc., a global champion of cutting-edge mobile and social media technologies to find the best local content in neighborhoods around the world.
