WHAT: Lola.com Marching in Boston Pride Parade
WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 2019, starting at 12:00 p.m. EDT
WHERE: Starts at Copley Square in Boston
The 2019 Boston Pride Parade combines the recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, a raid on a gay night club in New York City in 1969 that sparked a riot as well as the gay rights movement around the world. The central theme of the parade is, “Looking Back, Loving Forward,” highlighting a hopeful message of love and strength, as many rights still require conquest.
After kickoff at Copley Square, the parade will wander through the streets of the Back Bay, The South End, Bay Village, Beacon Hill, and finally Government Center for the Boston Pride Festival on City Hall Plaza. At the helm will be Grand Marshal Dale Mitchell, Marshal Ava Glasscott, Honorary Marshal Chris Harris, and Champion of Stonewall Honorary Marshal Marsha P. Johnson. The Transgender Remembrance section will honor those lives lost to transphobia and violence.
