Clojure is a dynamic, general-purpose programming language, combining the approachability and interactive development of a scripting language with an efficient and robust infrastructure for multithreaded programming. Introduced in Clojure 1.7, transducers allow developers to build algorithmic transformations that can be reused in many contexts. However, transducers often intimidate those attempting to learn them for the first time.
During this meetup, speaker Chris O’Donnell, Senior Software Engineer at Reify Health, breaks down how transducers work and what value they bring. Participants should be familiar with some Clojure, including the functions map, filter, and reduce. No prior understanding of transducers is required.
Chris started playing with Clojure for fun in 2010 and has been Clojure-ing professionally at the rockin' healthcare startup, Reify Health, since 2017. He has a deep appreciation for effective abstraction, ninja warrior, and craft beer.
